December highlights

December highlights:

Getting ready to go to Lisbon to meet up with my family!

Passed 1500km miles biked

Helped deliver another baby but got dizzy and had to sit down. Tried to name it after my father but his name wasn’t chosen (names are submitted by friends and family members and picked out of a hat).

Learned how to cook bananas in coconut.

Everything is green and growing (and muddy) because of the rain.

Found a giant snake in my trash pit, and later that day relocated a very large red and brown chameleon because everyone else was terrified of it.

Made the kids happy by letting them take photos of each other

Made a plan to start teaching agriculture classes at the primary school after the new year

December low points:

Here’s what my trek to Lisbon looks like:
Thursday- 3 hour bike ride with my duffel bag tied to my bike rack. It was probably too heavy to reasonably carry on my bike, and kept throwing me off balance through the muddy, pothole-filled road.
Yesterday- 18 hour bus ride from Ambanja to Tana
Tuesday- 10 hour plane ride from Tana to Paris
Wednesday- meeting up with my family (!!) then another 2-3 hour plane ride from Paris to Lisbon
